Tree Dressing

Waterlow Park Tree Dressing Celebration, Highgate, London. 10 local schools dressed 10 trees with subjects varying from dragons to story book characters.

Suitable for 4-16 year olds. The workshop is for 1 day to 1 week depending on the number of classes involved in the project. There needs to be accessible trees either in the grounds of the school or a local park to use for the final display. Each class will be given a subject to work on, eg. a character from a book, living creatures or mythical characters. Each class will work with Julie for half a day to a full day creating weatherproof pieces to hang in their chosen tree. The week will conclude with a tree dressing celebration and a chance for everyone to see the displayed work. Artwork produced can be temporary or permanent depending on the amount of allotted. This is an excellent end of term activity for the whole school and is great way to increase your student's knowledge of trees, their local environment and public art. Week long projects in the past have included trips to local parks, guided tours from tree specialists and parties on the final exhibition day.
