Recycling Sculpture Workshop

Underwater recycled sculpture exhibition by 15, Stoke Newington Schools, at Stoke Newington Art Gallery, London.
Suitable for 4 -11 year olds. The workshop can be for half a day, one day or one week. The longer the session the deeper an understanding of the importance of recycling, art and the environment is explored. For each session a wide range of recycled materials will be needed. A representative from your local recycling center will visit your school to chat with your students about the importance of recycling, bringing with them examples of recycled materials and products that can be developed from them.
Each student must collect some recycled materials to work with. In advance of making final pieces, Julie will demonstrate a wide range of building techniques and design ideas with the students. A subject should be chosen by you as a starting point, in the past I have covered numerous subjects from simple topics such as insects and birds, to more complex ones such as famous sculptor's work, (the artist Tony Cragg uses recycled materials in his artwork).
The classroom surfaces will need to be cleared and covered to provide drying areas. Children will need aprons and space to work on their tables. A morning or afternoon session will be for approximately 2 hours with a short break.
