Although polar opposites, microscopic imagery and aerial views both enable the viewer to see images that are normally unseen or difficult to see. My microscopic series began with a group of paintings produced during my period as Artist in Residence at The Tricycle Gallery. I collected piles of dust from different locations, placed them under the microscope and recorded the images as drawings and then paintings, creating large scale portraits to represent each location.
I have previously
focused on both disease and plant structures using the microscopic theme.
Again the large areas of shape and colour are the focus in the images I construct.
