Art Games

This art game combined biology, maths and art. The resulting artwork measured 6ftx4ft and was created by class of 12 year olds in Wembley, London.
Suitable for 7-16 year olds, this workshop runs for approximately 2 hours. The session will start with a discussion about art games, where they come from, and how they work. Art Games started in the USA and were used to stimulate creativity through game play and group activity. Julie will design an Art Game specifically for your class and relate it to another subject that is part of your curriculum, eg. Maths, (Mathematics is a pouplar stimulus in art history and is present in many artists' work from Paul Klee to Piet Mondrian). If Maths is chosen as a subject, a series of mathematical equations will be used to create a picture. The class will be broken up into groups, some with the task of solving the equations and some in charge of creating the image, these tasks will rotate throughout the session. Art Games are an ideal group centered activity and result in a single, large art work.
For each session a variety of materials will be needed depending on the subject chosen. The classroom surfaces will need to be cleared to provide suitable working areas. Students will need aprons. Book a workshop and see how much fun your students can have through combining subjects.
