Animals Masks

Suitable for 7-11 year olds, this is a 1 day workshop where students will design and make their own masks, either using gum strip and a 'special technique' which results in durable, ornate masks, or by using plaster bandage, (which is slightly messy and will need lots of space to complete, eg. school hall). The masks can then be used in future school productions or for display. Students will make the basic masks using their own faces as a mould. Decoration will take place in the afternoon once the masks are dry and depending on the complexity of the design, masks will be completed by the end of the day.
The classroom surfaces will need to be cleared to provide drying areas and tables need to be covered. Children will need to wear old t-shirts and aprons. The subject focus of this workshop can be varied to tie in with any current projects such as a school production or display. Simple mask workshops are available if required.
